Your Practical Driving Test
When your Learner Land driving instructor feels that you are ready to take your Practical Driving Test, he or she will ask you to book a test date at a driving test centre, preferably in the area in which you have been learning to drive. Your instructor can help you choose the most appropriate test centre.
The test aims to check that you can drive safely and that your knowledge of The Highway Code is demonstrated through your driving.
On this page, Learner Land provides useful information to help you when you are ready to book your driving test:

Here is a useful Things to do List for when you have booked your Practical Driving Test:
1. Tell your driving instructor immediately so that they can book you into their diary, and arrange an appropriate number of practice lessons leading up to and on the test day. Note that your instructor will not charge you any extra on your test day and there will be no additional insurance charges. You will simply pay your normal rate for the number of hours you book, which is usually one hour before your test, and a second hour to cover the duration of your test and travelling to and from the test centre.
2. You will receive an appointment letter through the post. Keep it safe, or give it to your driving instructor for safe keeping. You will not be able to take your test without it.
3. Make sure you have the following ready in good time for your driving test:
a. The appropriate theory test pass certificate (or confirmation) if you are not exempt
b. Both parts of your photo card licence. If you do not take both parts of your licence you will not be able to take your test and you will lose your fee.
c. If you have an old-style paper licence, you must take it with you, signed, together with a valid passport.
Important note:
If you have misplaced your driving licence, you must apply for a replacement from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA). This could take up to 15 days, so make sure you check you have your licence before you book your test, otherwise you may need to re-arrange it.
